After safetyfying the house against a rampaging 10 month old I’m not sure it will ever be the same again. Here’s some risk areas which you’d be wise to be aware of:-
- Potentially lethal items – Button batteries, pills, dish washer tablets, furniture falling or tipping onto them including drawers wardrobes and TVs.
- Baby temperature. Overheating, fitting and SIDS
- Roller drawers – trapped fingers
- Telephone line – tried to pull the wires out of the socket. Phone lines have a voltage present which could give you a nasty nip if put in the mouth
- Doors – including the hinge area
- All cupboards / drawers and what’s in them
- Fridge freezer
- Bins and contents
- Bathroom storage boxes
- Sharp corners and edges of furniture
- Fire guard and sharp bits on fire guard
- Hard Floor – Bought a rug and mats
- Batteries in remote controls etc – disposed of or taped over
- Power sockets – are the live neutral covered by the internal earth plug safer cover (UK plugs)
- Baby walkers causing falls
- Dropping baby
- Bath temperature
- Carers hot drinking liquid, tea coffee – add cold water leave in one safe location
- Oven and hob
- Hot radiators
- Stairs
